General Assembly
For one day each summer, approximately 200 Fonkoze center chiefs--clients whose peers have elected them to represent the credit center as a whole—travel from every corner of the country to Port-au-Prince to participate in the Fonkoze General Assembly. There they learn more about different Fonkoze programs—Education, Health, our microinsurance initiative Kore W, for example—and get the opportunity to express praise, doubts, questions and grievances to senior Fonkoze staff, including CEO Anne Hastings and director Carine Roenen. Afterwards, senior staff uses the feedback they receive to enhance their programs, and the center chiefs return to their credit centers to report back on what they learned.
The General Assembly is one more way Fonkoze complements lending with other activities that help realize our clients' potential. In encouraging our center chiefs to become fuller participants in institutional decision-making, we are cultivating the democratic values that will help them take a more effective leadership role in their centers, families and communities.
