Approximately 59% of Haiti’s people live below the poverty line, and 25% live below the Extreme Poverty line. We are on a mission to change this.
For 28 years, Fonkoze has been on the ground, working in solidarity with poor and disenfranchised communities throughout the country. Our “Staircase Out of Poverty” programs empower individuals, primarily rural women, with financial and development tools needed to break the cycle of poverty – and to deal with crises, including hurricanes, earthquakes, political upheaval and pandemics.
After seeing our work firsthand in 2011, Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times wrote that Fonkoze “is one of the most effective organizations in Haiti.”
We are addressing generational poverty in a holistic way by equipping the poor with literacy, business skills and disaster preparedness training, while also providing them access to financial, health services such as malnutrition screenings and ultra-poverty support if needed.
Hundreds of thousands across Haiti have been empowered through our empowering programs over the past 28 years. With your support, we can empower thousands more.
Together, we will not only alleviate poverty in Haiti, we will one day eradicate it altogether. Stand in solidarity with Haiti’s poor today by giving a gift that empowers.
