The Impact of the Boujonnen Lavi (Make Life Bloom) Project on Darlene Cherestal’s Life in Haiti
Darlene Cherestal, from the second section of Camp Perrin, shared how difficult life was before she entered the Boujonnen Lavi project of Fonkoze. She couldn’t feed herself or take care of her children because neither she nor her husband had any source of income. Every business she tried failed due to significant family responsibilities, and most of their money was spent on food. Her children never completed a full year of school, and they lacked the necessary sanitary conditions.
However, after joining the Boujonnen Lavi project, her life began to change. One of the most valuable aspects for Darlene was the training she received, which improved her business management skills. Today, she has a food and beverage business worth 75,000 gourdes. This success has earned her respect in the community, and she can now feed her children every day. She even bought a cow for her husband to take care of. One of Darlene’s main objectives is to expand her business by opening a larger store for wholesale and retail sales.
