The 18th of May holds a special place in the heart of every Haitian. It is the day we commemorate the creation of the Haitian flag and are reminded of the enduring adage, “L’union fait la force” (Unity is strength). This year, we are also celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Fonkoze Foundation. This dual commemoration serves as a powerful reminder of our shared commitment to empowering the people of Haiti.

Thirty years ago, Fonkoze was founded with a vision to break the cycle of poverty across Haiti. On May 18 we honor that vision by reflecting on the unity and strength that have been the cornerstones of our journey together. L’union fait la force is the rallying cry that has guided us through three decades of transformative work, and it resonates even more on the day we celebrate the birth of the Haitian flag.

With your generous support, over 10,000 families have been empowered with training and peer support through our CLM Program. Moreover, an estimated 3.7 million Haitians (about twice the population of New Mexico) have received access to essential health services and education throughout the countryside.
