Christmas and the holiday season invite us to pause, reflect, and reconnect—especially in times of uncertainty.
For our colleagues in Haiti, 2025 has been one of the most difficult years in recent memory. Escalating insecurity and the suspension of humanitarian aid have deeply affected daily life and the nonprofit sector. Many organizations have been forced to close, and countless dedicated professionals have faced extraordinary stress and uncertainty.
In the midst of these challenges, something simple—but powerful—took place.
Thanks to the generosity of a generous partner, teams from Fonkoze Financial Services and the Fonkoze Foundation were able to come together in December for a year-end holiday gathering. For many, it was the first time in nearly a year that colleagues from both institutions could be in the same room—laughing, sharing a meal, and reconnecting as one community.
The afternoon included moments of joy and care: a therapeutic wellness session led by trained professionals, interactive games, music, and shared activities designed to ease stress and restore a sense of belonging. Nearly 100 staff members attended, filling the room with warmth, laughter.
Employees encouraged one another, reflected together, and rediscovered a renewed sense of motivation and purpose. In a year marked by disruption, this holiday moment reminded us that solidarity, compassion, and hope still endure.
As Christmas reminds us, light can shine even in the darkest seasons. We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this gathering possible and helped bring comfort, dignity, and renewed energy to those who continue to stand with Haiti’s most vulnerable communities every day.
