A Journey Worth Celebrating: 137 Families Graduate from Fonkoze’s CLM Program in Central Haiti
In rural Haiti today, the sound of celebration is echoing across hillsides. But it’s not just music or speeches that make this moment powerful—it’s what it represents.
Today, 137 women are graduating from Fonkoze’s Chemen Lavi Miyò (CLM) program.
These women started their journey in what is referred to as ultra-poverty. That means they had no reliable income, no secure housing, no livestock, and little or no access to food, clean water, or medical care. Many were raising children in shelters made of sticks that are unable to withstand Haiti’s harsh weather. Others had been displaced by violence or abandoned by partners. Most had never had the chance to receive a formal education and the chance to dream about something better—until CLM.
Chemen Lavi Miyò means “the Pathway to a Better Life.” And for these 137 women, it has been exactly that.
For 18 months, each woman worked with a trained Fonkoze case manager who walked alongside her—week after week—offering coaching, encouragement, and access to resources that helped her build a strong foundation for her and her family. She received training and funds to launch two income-generating activities, a water filter, a latrine, and support to build or repair her home. She enrolled her children in school. Her confidence began to grow.
The transformation is not instant. It takes time. Trust. Partnership. It takes letting women lead their own journeys—and it takes the compassion and commitment of donors like you to make that possible. We invite you to take a behind-the-scenes look at the preparation for this meaningful day.
