EdTek tablets help women build stronger businesses, strengthen communities, and expand economic resilience.
Fonkoze launched an innovative business training program for Haiti’s Community Health Entrepreneurs (CHEs) using Fonkoze’s tablet-based education platform, EdTek. This holistic initiative provides CHEs with the skills to manage and grow micro-enterprises in underserved areas, complementing their vital health work.
In May 2025, five CHE monitors in Lascahobas completed intensive EdTek Business Management training, covering core modules including business definition, financial control, profit management, and business planning. Each participant received practical tools—sales ledgers, purchase records, and business plan templates—to implement what they learned.
These monitors are now leading replication sessions for 96 other CHEs, bringing training directly into their communities. By June 2025, 38 CHEs (32 women and 6 men) had completed the program, learning in small, interactive groups to ensure hands-on engagement.
Early results are already showing meaningful impact: participants report reduced loan defaults, increased investment in productive activities, and improved household management. Notably, 84% of early participants were women, reflecting the program’s focus on gender inclusion and economic empowerment.
“Every entrepreneur should follow similar training… I used to manage my business very badly, now I will put these methods into practice,”
— Marjorie Paul, CHE participant
Despite operational challenges—including limited literacy among some CHEs, high transportation costs, and escalating security risks—the program demonstrated that tablet-based learning can reach women where they live and work, building business skills and leadership even in difficult circumstances.
Support for this scalable, sustainable model, bridges health entrepreneurship with business success and lays the foundation for long-term economic resilience in Haitian communities.
