Meet Yvrose
From Nearly Overlooked to Lifting Up Her Entire Community
When Fonkoze first met Yvrose, she and her husband were raising their two children in a tiny shack next to their church. A few chickens scratched in the dirt — the only sign of stability.
During our community selection process, she was almost left behind.
On the surface, she didn’t appear to live in ultra-poverty. She even managed to send her children to school on a motorcycle taxi.
But when a Fonkoze case manager dug deeper, the truth emerged:
A generous church member was paying for those rides.
Without that support, school would have been out of reach.
Because someone took the time to understand her full reality, Yvrose was invited to join Fonkoze’s Chemen Lavi Miyò (CLM) program.
A Business That Lifts Up Others
Yvrose didn’t stop after graduation.
She joined a Fonkoze training to turn local crops into goods like peanut pralines and coconut sweets. Today, she co-owns a thriving business that employs seven local women.
Her dream?
“I want the business to get really big. Big enough to hire everyone in the neighborhood who needs a job.”
This is what your support makes possible — not just short-term relief, but long-term change that benefits entire communities.

In CLM, women receive:
Assets like goats or chickens
One-on-one case management
Business training and financial tools
Support to build a safe home
Confidence, dignity, and a path forward
For Yvrose, that path led to transformation.
She started with two goats and a few additional chickens. She learned to manage a small business. She dreamed — for the first time — of having her own secure home.
By graduation, she and her husband had built a sturdy three-room cinder-block house and launched a growing enterprise.
